URBAN DECAY SUPERCURL CURLING MASCARA

I've been using the URBAN DECAY SUPERCURL CURLING MASCARA exclusively for almost 3 months now. I don't feel like it gives my eyelashes any more curl than my eyelash curler does but what I do like is it extends my lashes and it keeps the curl that I create from my eyelash curler for the whole day. I give this product a rating of GOOD. I would have given it a rating of excellent if it claimed to extend lashes instead of supercurl.

URBAN DECAY EYESHADOW PRIMER POTION IN THE COLOR SIN

In my opinion, Urban Decay's eyeshadow primer potion in the color ORIGINAL is the best. I wrote about it recently. You can use this LINK to read about it. I also use this same product in the color SIN. It's very different from the original color. The original color after blended almost looks like there's nothing on your eye lid and leaves your eye lid with a matte like finish. The color sin after application and blending leaves my eye lid with a shimmery light gold look. I do like the look because it gives me a shimmery base to work with. The only thing I don't like about the color sin is my eyeshadow does crease roughly around the 7th hour after application. So when I use this product, I do bring extra eyeshadow with me to do touch ups in the middle of the day or night. With the original color, I don't do touchups at all. So, my rating for the Urban Decay eyeshadow primer potion in the color sin is FAIR. 

ISLAND GIRL AND MYGLAM BAG #1

Because I have no other subscriptions to companies that deliver beauty samples to my door each month, I've decided to dedicate a section of Island Stylicious to MYGLAM. I signed up for MyGlam after learning about it through Urban Decays website back in December 2011. Sadly, at the time that I signed up, I just missed their very first bag that got shipped out during the month of December. I got my teenage daughter excited about it once I paid for my $10 subscription. She and I were very pleased when we received my very first bag on January 17, 2012. The shipping package is super cute. I will be recycling mine and using it for mail purposes. The little beauty bag that carries the products is very simple and cute and comes with a zipper. I will be recycling mine by using it as a gift holder for a friend. The contents are just as the company claims. I received 3 full sized products and 1 deluxe sized sample.


There is a lot of information on the web about MyGlam and there is a lot of reviews on products received so I'll be keeping my write ups simple by only writing about products that work well in an island setting and ones that I like best from the bag. I will at times have my teenage daughters opinion in my write ups if there was a product she really liked since I share my bag contents with her. 


My January 2012 MyGlam bag contents were:
Freeman Feeling Beautiful Facial Peel-Off Mask in Cucumber 6 fl. oz
Wen Sweet Almond Mint Cleansing Conditioner 2 fl. oz.
The Balm Shady Lady Eye shadow in the color Luscious Lani 0.12 fl. oz
Sheer Cover Duo Concealer in the color Light/Medium 0.10 oz


I calculated a total price for what was received and I've come up with an estimate of $55-$60 worth of product that I spent $10 on. For me, that's amazing! I don't know how Michelle Phan and the rest of the My Glam team are doing it but my hats off to them. They are doing an awesome job!!!!


The FREEMAN FACIAL PEEL-OFF MASK has been a hit in my home. Not only do me and my daughter love it but my husband loves it too. There's a cooling sensation when first applied to dry skin. I do leave mine on past 10 minutes because I get busy and forget about the mask being on my face but it does dry within 5-10 minutes. We all agree that the mask is fun to use and the mask peels off with no irritation to your skin or pulling on your facial hairs. After use, our skin is left feeling super soft and clean. Our rating of this product is EXCELLENT and it's an added bonus that all members of the family can enjoy this product.


I was familiar with the WEN CLEANSING CONDITIONER. I used it before for a week straight because I was visiting a friend and she wanted me to try the product while I was staying with her. After using it for a second time, I'm just as pleased as I was before. My hair is full of body and shine and the roots and ends of my hair feel extra strong. I love the smell too. I'm typically a big fan of anything minty. When the steam from the shower hits the smell, I feel refreshed and invigorated. This product gets an EXCELLENT rating. I will be purchasing a full sized product and the shampoo as soon as I'm done using what I have now.

CLEAN ANTI-BACTERIAL MOISTURIZING HAND CREAM

At this time of year my island girl skin goes from being super hydrated to dry in many areas. One of which is my hands. I have a habit of using drug store anti-bacterial sanitizer a lot during the day and it started making my hands dry and cracked. As soon as I felt my hands start to dry up at the beginning of the winter season, I ordered the CLEAN ANTI-BACTERIAL MOISTURIZING HAND CREAM from Sephora and have been using it everyday since I received it. I love this stuff. I have the peace of mind that my hands are clean for up to 4 hours and my hands stay moisturized and soft. There is no smell so it doesn't interfere with my fragrance of the day. I give this product an EXCELLENT rating. I will be switching back to my normal hand sanitizer during the summer months because it is a lot cheaper but for the winter months, this is worth the money. 

AMORE PACIFIC

With my most recent purchase to SEPHORA, I received a deluxe sample of AMORE PACIFIC MOISTURE BOUND REJUVENATING EYE TREATMENT GEL that I was able to use for 3 weeks. The gel formula goes on very thick and it leaves your eye area looking shiny after use so I used it each night before bed. It had a really nice soft powdery smell. When I woke up each morning, my delicate eye area was very soft and ready for a new day. I don't have wrinkles yet so for me, I would use this product again as a preventative and intense hydration for the eye area. I give this product an EXCELLENT rating. 

THE BEST ACNE SKIN CARE SYSTEM

I'll be writing about skin care in my next series of posts so I wanted to make sure I wrote about my most favorite acne fighting skin care system before talking about what I'm using currently. My history with PROACTIVE started in 2001. I was back living on my favorite island after being away for 4 years in California. It must have been the change in climate that caused my skin to become acne prone. I tried every over the counter drug store acne fighting systems and nothing worked. I can remember staying up late at night watching Proactive shows. If I remember right, Vanessa Williams was the face of Proactive at the time. For two months, I ignored the shows because up till that point, I never purchased anything off TV commercials before. When I finally decided to give it a try, I can remember waiting for my shipment and dealing with one side of my face being riddled with large and small pimples. The big ones hurt so bad, I couldn't touch them. The system I purchased included steps 1, 2 and 3 and the Refining Mask. From day one, I was religious both day and night with the steps and within 4 days, my little pimples were gone and the big pimples were significantly smaller with no pain. By the end of week 2, my skin was completely clear and over the course of a year, my acne scars faded. I used Proactive for years before I finally decided I wanted to try other brands that friends were recommending. I do try other brands and have come to find other favorites but my number one choice will always be Proactive. I put in more orders with Proactive than I do with any other skin care company because it works and I love it. The company is very generous with free gifts when ordering the 3 Step System. I've received many full sized products when I make orders. Other products that I've used and approve of are the Green Tea Moisturizer and the Skin Lightening Lotion. 


My rating for Proactive is EXCELLENT. I will always purchase products from them and give the highest recommendation to friends and family.
